NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. - The Niagara hockey team will continue its search for its first road and non-conference win of the 2013-14 season as the Purple Eagles travel to Ithaca, N.Y. on Tuesday, Nov. 26 to faceoff against the No. 14 Cornell Big Red. The puck is scheduled to drop at 7:00 p.m.
This contest will be game five in 11 days for the Purple Eagles, with the previous stop being at then-No. 5/5 Michigan Wolverines where the Purple Eagles were shutout, 6-0; they do not play again at Dwyer Arena until Jan. 10-11 Niagara, which is 0-6-1 on the road, is in second place in the Atlantic Hockey Association with seven points.. The Purps are 3-8-1 in their first 12 games.
Cornell welcomes NU to the James Lynah Arena with a 6-3-1 overall record. The Big Red will be looking to pocket their fourth consecutive victory after sweeping a weekend of Ivy League play, dropping Brown, 4-1 before defeating Yale, 2-1.

U-M BLANKS THE PURPLE EAGLES
• Niagara was dealt a 6-0 drubbing by then-No. 5/5 Michigan Wolverines on Nov. 22 at the Yost Ice Arena.
• Despite being down 3-0 heading into the final period, the game was tightly contested as U-M held a slim 24-23 advantage in shots. Michigan's third period scoring outburst however dug the Purps into a 6-0 hole to keep NU winless on the road thus far.

Jackson Teichroeb wrapped up the evening with 32 saves.
• The shot advantage was held by Michigan, getting 38 looks on net compared to Niagara's 36. The Purple Eagles went 0-for-2 on the power play, and Michigan went 1-for-3 while on the man advantage.
THE LEADERS
•
Ryan Rashid,
Mike Conderman and
Hugo Turcotte lead the Purple Eagles in scoring with eight points each. Rashid and Turcotte have four goals and four assists apiece, while Conderman has netted a trio of goal and added five helpers.
• Conderman leads the squad in assists with five.
• Ryan is first with a +7 plus/minus rating.
• Turcotte leads the squad with 47 shots on goal.
Patrick Divjak is close behind with 46 looks on net.
HOME SICK
• Niagara's 0-6-1 start on the road this season is the longest the Purple Eagles have gone without a win away from home since the 2009-10 season when the team went 0-6-0 during a six-game road trip.
• The Purple Eagles lost to three ranked opponents at the time - No. 4 Michigan, No. 6 Cornell and No. 19 UMass - as well as Clarkson, St. Lawrence and Colgate. During that span, NU was outscored by a 13-22 margin.
• During this current run, Niagara has been outscored 12-35, losing to then-No. 17 Denver, Air Force, Mercyhurst, a pair to Ohio State and then-No. 5/5 Michigan. The Purps came out with a 3-3 draw against RMU.
NEWBIE CONTRIBUTIONS
• Up front, freshmen have registered points in nine of 12 games thus far, including goals by freshmen in eight of those games played.
• Freshmen goaltenders Jackson Teichroeb and
Adrian Ignagni have split time between the pipes, and freshman defenseman
Vincent Muto (2-3-5) has played in nine of the 12 games thus far for Niagara.
• The Purple Eagles have dressed no less than three freshmen in each game this season, including six during the Canisius and Denver matchups.
SERIES HISTORY
• Cornell leads the all-time series against the Purple Eagles, 11-2-0.
• The Purps are 0-8 all-time against Cornell at Lynah Rink, with both of the Purple Eagles' victories coming as part of the Syracuse Invitation Tournament in 1999 and 2000.
• The series also includes neutral-site games at Buffalo in 1997, the first meeting between the two programs, and one in Rochester in 2005.
SCOUTING THE BIG RED
• The Big Red will be wrapping up its season-high three-game home stand when it welcomes Niagara at Lynah Rink. Cornell has pocketed a pair of wins in that span, earning a decisive 5-1 win over Brown, and coming out with a 2-1 victory over then-No. 9/9 Yale the following day.
• Cornell currently owns a 6-3-1 overall mark, while owning a 4-3-1 ECAC mark.
• The Big Red are averaging 3.0 goals a game and are allowing 2.4, placing them 24th and 15th in the nation, respectively.
• The power play has gone 15-for-14 while the penalty kill is 38-for-41, ranking them first and 28th in the NCAA, respectively.
• John McCarron leads the team in scoring with 25 points off three goals and 10 assists, and is 17th in the nation in points per game (1.70). Brian Ferlin and Joel Lowry are tied for the team lead in goals (6), while Ferlin is one point ahead of Lowry for second overall scoring with 23 points.
• In the net, Andy Iles has made 80 consecutive starts, owning a 6-3-1 record this season for a 2.39 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage.
DOWN THE ROAD
• After its Tuesday night game vs. No. 14 Cornell, NU will continue its eight game road swing with a weekend series at UConn after the Thanksgiving break (Dec. 6-7).
• The Purps do not return home until the start of the New Year when they welcome AIC to Dwyer.
