NIAGARA UNIV., NY. – The seventeenth ranked Purple Eagles and the RIT Tigers will clash in Niagara’s first home-and-home series of the season, traveling to Rochester, N.Y. on Friday, Jan. 25, and returning to Monteagle Ridge the following day to wrap up the weekend.

Niagara’s games versus RIT will be broadcasted live on WJJL 1440 AM and PurpleEagles.com, with Steve Warzala on the call for both games.

The 4-3 victory vs. Air Force extended NU’s current home ice unbeaten streak to 14 games, dating back to NU’s 3-3 draw against Air Force on Feb. 11, 2012.
Niagara is the only team in Division I hockey to go 22 consecutive games without a loss between Feb.11, 2006 and Nov. 17, 2007.
Last Time Out
NU split its weekend series at Holy Cross, dropping a 5-3 decision in the opening game for the Purp’s first conference loss of the season, but bouncing back the following day with a solid 4-1 win.
Dan Weiss had a three-point weekend with a goal and two assists, while
Marc Zanette (1-1-2),
Ryan Murphy (1-1-2) and
Patrick Divjak (2-0-2) each earned a pair of points in two games.
Carsen Chubak wrapped up the weekend with 35 saves to improve to 14-3-4.
Scouting The Tigers
RIT heads into the weekend series with a 8-10-4 overall mark and a 6-6-3 conference record.
The Tigers have received offensive contributions from across the roster, with Jeff Smith (10-8-18), and Chris Saracino (4-14-18) at the top. Mike Colavecchia is second on the team in goals (9), while Adam Mitchell has also put up some points for RIT (8-9-17).
Josh Watson sits between the pipes with a 2.91 goals-against average, and a .909 save percentage.
Last Time Meeting On The Ice
The Purps wrapped up the 2012 calendar year with a 2-2 draw against RIT on Dec. 12 at Dwyer Arena.
Niagara came back from two goals down, but had to settle for the tie, extending its unbeaten streak to a then nation-best 12 games.

Niagara welcomes Bentley to Dwyer Arena on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 1-2 for an Atlantic Hockey match-up. The puck is scheduled to drop 7:05 p.m. for both contests.
