Previous Student-Athlete of the Week Winners

NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – Senior Brandon Gallegos was named Student-Athlete of the Week after capturing his first individual title at Niagara while participating in the Bison Quad this past weekend.

He defeated Stefen Groot from St. Francis in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3, on the first day of competition, before earning victories in the quarterfinals and semifinals to reach the title match.  He beat SFU’S Washi Gervais in straight sets for the Bison Quad Flight B championship. 

The Santa Cruz, Calif. native also went 3-1 in the tournament with doubles partner Lorenz Schwojer.  The duo made it to the championship match, but fell to Bucknell, 8-6.

Gallegos and the Niagara men’s tennis team return to action on Sept. 29 at the St. Bonaventure Invitational.
