Men's Tennis Drops Contest Against Binghamton

Binghamton, NY - Niagara's men's tennis team was blanked 7-0 by Binghamton on Friday, as the Purple Eagles were swept in singles competition despite showing fight in several close matches.

The Purple Eagles' best opportunity came at third singles, where Aryav Bhawan pushed Zihe Liao to three sets. Bhawan won the first set 7-5 but dropped the second 0-6 before falling in the decisive third set 5-7. At sixth singles, Sarosh Rustomjee also forced his opponent to work, falling the first set 6-7 before dropping the second 1-6 to Andrew Fang.

Elsewhere in singles play, Damian Janiszewski fell 3-6, 4-6 to Ronin Lotlikar at first singles, while Logan Wong lost 1-6, 4-6 to Dylan Breen at fourth singles. Jose Maria Garcia retired against Filipe Costa at second singles, trailing 0-6, 0-4, and Ekansh Shukla also retired at fifth singles against Andre Ajed, down 0-6, 0-3.

Niagara salvaged its lone win in doubles action. The third doubles team of Logan Wong and Jose Maria Garcia defeated Andre Ajed and Andrew Fang 6-3. However, the Purple Eagles dropped the other two doubles matches, with Bhawan and Janiszewski falling 2-6 at first doubles to Lotlikar and Liao, while Shriven Somasi and Rustomjee lost 1-6 at second doubles to Ajed and Costa.
