Men's Tennis Falls Against Navy

Binghamton, NY - The Niagara Purple Eagles dropped a 5-2 decision to Navy on Saturday at Binghamton.

Niagara faced an uphill battle after Navy swept all three doubles matches to claim the early advantage. The pairs of Aryav Bhawan/Damian Janiszewski, Shriven Somasi/Sarosh Rustomjee, and Logan Wong/Jose Maria Garcia fell by 6-1, 6-2, and 6-2 margins respectively.

The Purple Eagles found some success in singles play, with Bhawan and Rustomjee providing the bright spots. Bhawan earned a straight-sets victory at the No. 3 position, defeating George Cutone 1-6, 6-4. Rustomjee battled through a match at No. 6, ultimately prevailing 6-7(2), 2-7, 6-4, 1-0(10-8) over Zachary Quattro in a match that required a decisive tiebreaker.

However, Navy claimed four of the six singles matches to secure the victory. Damian Janiszewski fell in a three-set battle at No. 1, dropping a 2-6, 7-5, 0-1(3-10) decision to Herrick Legaspi. Jose Maria Garcia lost 5-7, 3-6 at No. 2 to Jake Young, while Logan Wong was defeated 3-6, 3-6 by Jason Kim at No. 4. Ekansh Shukla rounded out the singles action with a 4-6, 4-6 loss to Ethan Garcia at No. 5.
