YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Niagara women's swimming and diving team dropped a 196-104 decision to Youngstown State on Friday evening.
Despite the result, the Purple Eagles compiled 23 season-best performances, with the trio of
Lindsey Jackson,
Aubrey Kettrick and
Julia Bulmahn leading the way.
“The women swam extremely well this evening," head coach
Ben Nigro said. "Each week they have improved on their times and diving scores. This is trend we look to continue as we compete against Siena and Colgate next weekend.”
Jackson placed first in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:15.50, and nabbed a second place finish in the 200-yard butterfly (2:15.09). Kettrick grabbed two first place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle (1:57.02) and the 100-yard freestyle (53.95). Bulmahn had a pair of second place efforts in the 100-yard backstroke (1:02.11) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:13.46).
Lori Dean Scheideman and
Morgan Molfino placed second and third in the 1650-yard freestyle, respectively, while Molfino also added a second place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (5:28.34).
“Morgan Molfino had an unbelievable evening," added Nigro. "She swam her lifetime bests in the 1650 and 500 freestyles dropping over a minute in the 1650.”
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Kettrick,
Emily Kisloski,
Ashley Harrington and Jackson wrapped up the meet with a second place finish (1:44.49).
The men's and women's squad welcome Siena and Colgate next weekend in their first home meet of the year. Action is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
