NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. - After a three days of solid performances from
Lindsey Jackson at the 2011 Zippy Invitational, the junior swimmer has been named Niagara Student-Athlete of the Week.
Jackson now stands as the all-time leader at Niagara for swim records achieved with eight after the completion of the invitational. She leads not only amongst women, but overall as well. She is one ahead of alum Pat Garvey for individal swim records (4) and is one behind teammate
Aubrey Kettrick with four relay records.
On the final day of competition, Jackson swam a record-breaking time of 2:10.24 in the preliminaries for the 200-yard butterfly. The previous record was held by Christine Wood and Dana Vernal (2:11.52). In the finals, Jackson placed 16th in the event, clocking in at 2:12.95.
The Marietta, Ga. native finished the 400-yard IM event in 22nd place, in a time of 4:41.94. She was also the anchor of the 800-yard freestyle team that earned 15
th place (7:57.34) and the anchor for the 400-yard freestyle relay team that placed 21
st with a time of 3:37.92.
The Purple Eagles are off until Jan. 13 when they host rival Buffalo at the Oxy Aquatic Center.
