CAA Favorites Visits Gallagher
The Niagara Purple Eagles return to the Gallagher Center to play the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) preseason favorite Drexel Dragons on Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. The game will be televised live on Time Warner Cable SportsNet.
The Purple Eagles and Dragons will meet for the fourth straight season, with Niagara winning two of the last three meetings during that stretch. Niagara will play its fourth home game this month, after opening the month against the MAAC’s top two preseason picks and a Big 4 contest on Dec. 7. NU will be in search of its first home win since topping Central Connecticut State in the season opener.
~ The Purple Eagles snapped their three-game skid with a 79-76 win over Hartford on Saturday. Niagara had season-highs in field goal percentage (50.0), 3-point percentage (47.4) and free-throw percentage (76.9).
~ NU went 9-for-10 at the free-throw line in the final 30 seconds in Saturday’s win over the Hawks.
Ameen Tanksley made a career-best five free throws, including three during that span.

Marvin Jordan had his second 20-plus scoring output in the Purple Eagles’ victory over Hartford. Jordan’s six 3-pointers were one shy of tying his career-high. Jordan led the game with seven assists and six steals, both career-highs.

Juan'ya Green’s 19.7 ppg are second in the nation amongst in freshmen and 32nd in the nation. Green currently leads the MAAC in scoring and minutes played per game (37.5), fourth in assists per game (3.1), second in free throw percentage (87.8), sixth in steals (1.5).
~ Niagara is second in the conference in turnover margin (+1.40).
~ Green has scored in double figures in every game this season. Mason has scored in double figures in nine out of 10 games.

Juan’ya Green is averaging 19.7 ppg to rank 32nd in the nation in scoring and is second amongst freshmen. Green’s 87.8 free throw percentage is 55th in the nation.

Drexel snapped its two-game skid with a win over Princeton on Saturday. Sophomore guard Frantz Massenat leads the team in scoring (14.3), followed by freshman guard Damion Lee (11.7 ppg). Preseason Second Team All-CAA member Chris Fouch returned the lineup in the Dragons’ last game after a knee injury.
Against the Dragons (Niagara, 6-5)
Niagara holds a 6-5 advantage in the series that began during the 1980-81 season. The Purple Eagles have won three of the last four meetings. NU defeated Drexel in the last meeting at the Gallagher Center. NU opened its 2009-10 home schedule with an 8 a.m. game as a part of ESPN’s 24 Hours of College Basketball Marathon.

PHILADELPHIA – The Niagara men’s basketball team lost to the Drexel Dragons, 84-39, on Tuesday to snap its three-game win streak against the Dragons.
