NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – Men’s soccer junior
Brett Petricek was named Niagara University’s Student-Athlete of the Week, after helping Niagara (9-4-4, 4-2-3 MAAC) clinch the fourth seed in the 2011 MAAC Tournament with a 2-0 win against rivals Canisius on Oct. 28.
In the Purple Eagles’ victory, Petricek posted his seventh shutout of the season. He made four saves, three of which came in the second half.
The Chicago, IL native is ranked 12
th in the NCAA for his save percentage of .843 and 30
th in the NCAA for GAA (.82). He leads the MAAC in both categories. Petricek accumulated 75 saves for the 2011-12 regular season.
The Purple Eagles will start their quest for the team's first-ever conference tournament crown on Friday, Nov. 4 at 1:30 p.m., taking on Marist.
