16 Student-Athletes Earn All-Academic Honors

EDISON, N.J. - Sixteen members of the Niagara men's and women's cross country teams were honored recently with inclusion on the 2011 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Academic Team.

The Purple Eagles men's team placed six runners on the MAAC Men's Cross Country All-Academic Team, including senior Brian Traugott, juniors Ryan Kolano and Alex Schmitt, along with sophomores Vincent Donner, Ryan Lamb and Edmond Moloney.

The Niagara women's team placed 10 runners on the MAAC Women's Cross Country All-Academic Team, including seniors Amanda Trickey and Alyssa Tusang, juniors Nicole Mehlman, Kalani Personius and Jessica Spellane, along with sophomores Sarah DoucetteKaylie Lamica, Angel Nardolilio, Stephanie Schmidt and Kim Vona.

Vona recorded the highest grade-point average of the 74 student-athletes on the women's team, with a 4.23.

To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative 3.20 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.

The Purple Eagles will finish the 2011 season when they compete in the 2011 NCAA Northeast Regionalson Nov. 12 in Amherst, N.Y.
