LeMoyne Defeats Women's Lacrosse, 15-5

Leigh Downing

NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. - The Niagara women's lacrosse team (0-4, 0-0 MAAC) was unable to overcome an early deficit, dropping a 15-5 decision to the visiting LeMoyne Dolphins (3-3) on Wednesday afternoon at Niagara Field.

The Dolphins controlled much of the first half, taking a commanding 10-0 in the first half. Senior Leigh Downing scored the first of her season-high three goals with a minute left in the first half to cut the Dolphin lead to eight heading into the second stanza.

Downing would strike early in the second half, but four more LeMoyne goals put the Dolphins up 14-2 with 15 minutes left in the game. The Purple Eagles would close the game on a 3-1 run, getting goals from Downing, Emily French and Courtney Formato.

The Purple Eagles are back in action when they host Detroit-Mercy on Friday, March 26 at 7 p.m.
