Swimming & Diving Concludes Competition At MAAC Championships

BALTIMORE, Md. - The Niagara swimming & diving team concluded competition at the 2010 MAAC Championships with the men's team finishing in eighth place of nine teams with 233.5 points, while the women's team finished in sixth place of 10 teams with 316 points. 

The women's 400 yard freestyle relay team of Stephanie Gartley, Aubrey Kettrick, Lindsey Jackson and Ashley Clingersmith were able to break the school record, finishing in seventh place with a time of 3:36.83. Jackson also finished in 10th place in the 200 yard breast stroke event, finishing less than a second off of the record set by Allison Carr in 2006.

For the men's team, Evinn Drusys finished in fourth place in the 100 yard freestyle event, clocking in with a time of 46.77. The Purple Eagles also picked up some points off of the diving board, where Matthew Carrozzo finished in 10th place and Jared Rice finished in 11th place. 

The Purple Eagles will be back in the pool to wrap up the 2009-10 season when they head to Pittsburgh for the ECAC Championships.
