PHILADELPHIA – The Niagara men’s basketball team lost to the Drexel Dragons, 84-39, on Tuesday to snap its three-game win streak against the Dragons.
Niagara’s (3-10) early season woes continued, especially on the offensive end, as Drexel’s (9-2) size disrupted the Purple Eagles on both ends. The Purple Eagles were held to 1-for-17 shooting from the field in the opening 12 minutes as the Dragons went on an 18-0 run en route to a 44-15 halftime lead. NU shot 15 percent in the first half and finished the game with a season-low 29.4 percent from the field and season-low one 3-point field goal.
Senior Anthony Nelson led the Purple Eagles with 14 points and was 7-for-11 from the free-throw line. Philadelphia natives, Kashief Edwards and Scooter Gillette, scored eight and five points, respectively.
Niagara will have a quick turnaround for its next game as it will look to rebound at UMBC on Thursday, Dec. 30 at 7 p.m.
