HAMDEN, CONN. - The Niagara men's hockey team (7-13-2, 2-4-1 CHA) continued its recent string of success against the Quinnipiac Bobcats (13-10-1, 7-6-0 ECAC), using six different goal scorers en route to a 6-2 victory at the T.D. Bank Sports Center on Friday night.

The Purple Eagles are now 11-2-0 all-time against the Bobcats, including a perfect 3-0-0 mark at the T.D. Bank Sports Center, a place where Niagara has scored 16 goals in three games.

"We played a solid road game today against a good team," head coach Dave Burkholder said. "In a nice facility against an ECAC team, we came out and played to our potential."

The Bobcats nearly struck first within the first 60 seconds of the game when the puck squirted past freshman netminder Andrew Hare (Burlington, Ont.), but rookie blueliner Jason Beattie (Newmarket, Ont.) came to the rescue by firing the puck out of the zone before it could fully cross the line.

The Purps would respond by scoring twice in a 42 second span, with sophomore Wes Consorti (Brantford, Ont.) slamming home a rebound from freshman Tyler Matthews (Buffalo, N.Y.) just 4:20 into the game. Senior Chris Moran (Buffalo, N.Y.) added his fourth goal of the season to cap off Niagara's first-period scoring, when he curled out to the right faceoff circle from behind the net and fired a shot on net that beat Bobcats netminder Dan Clarke.

Niagara added to its lead in the second period, when Consorti gave sophomore Dan Baco (Buffalo, N.Y.) a nice feed, which he fired five-hole past Clarke for the three-goal lead. The Purple Eagles would push their lead to four late in the period on the penalty kill. Junior Paul Zanette (Nobleton, Ont.) forced a turnover in the neutral zone, which he turned into a two-on-one. Zanette fired the puck into the high corner over the glove of newly inserted Bobcat netminder Mathieu Cadieux for his second shorthanded goal in as many games.  Greg Holt scored with under a minute to go on the power-play to make it 4-1 after two periods of play.

Freshman Giancarlo Iuorio (Richmond Hill, Ont.) extended his point-streak to five games after he delivered a perfect feed to Beattie at the point, who notched his second goal of the season from the blueline. Junior Bryan Haczyk (Nutley, N.J.) extended his point-streak to six games, after he beat Cadieux low on the penalty kill.  With three seconds left in the game, Ben Arnt notched his first goal of the season to round out scoring.

Hare finished his first career-win with a career-high 48 saves, while Consorti picked up his first career multi-point game with a goal and an assist. Zanette's shorthanded goal in the second period ties him with several others for second in the nation in shorthanded goals with two.

Winners of three of its last four games, the Purple Eagles finish its two-game series against the Bobcats tomorrow night at 7 p.m., with the game available on the Niagara Sports Network.
