St.Bonaventure Too Much For Women's Lacrosse

Vanessa Schultz

OLEAN, N.Y. - The Niagara women's lacrosse team (3-6; 0-0 MAAC) couldn't keep up with St. Bonaventure Bonnies (4-3; 0-0 A-10), as the home team came away with a 19-5 victory at McGraw-Jennings Field on Tuesday afternoon.

The Bonnies stormed out to a 4-0 lead, until Niagara notched its first tally of the game off the stick of senior Vanessa Schultz (Clarence, N.Y.). Juniors Courtney Formato (Lancaster, N.Y.) and Leigh Downing (Auburn, N.Y.) also scored for the Purple Eagles before halftime, putting Niagara behind the Bonnies 10-3.

Like the first half, the Bonnies opened scoring quickly in the second stanza, scoring just 42 seconds into the game. St.Bonaventure went on a 4-1 scoring run in the first 15 minutes of the second half to go up 14-4, with Niagara's goal scored by sophomore Rianne Farrugia (Elbridge, N.Y.). Formato added another marker late in the game to round out scoring for the Purple Eagles.

Niagara is back in action, when they travel to take on Siena on Sunday, March 29 at 11 a.m.
