BUFFALO, N.Y. - The women's lacrosse team (2-9-0, 0-4-0) fell to cross-town rival Canisus College (7-8-0, 2-2-0) 23-5 on Wednesday night.
Scoring for Niagara was Courtney Formato (Lancaster, N.Y.), Alison Valerio (Geneva, N.Y.) who each picked up a goal. Erralyn Thomas (Ducan, B.C.) picked up three goals on the contest.
The Griffs got up on a quick lead early, scoring four quick goals in the first half. Canisius scored 15 goals in the first half and eight goals in the second half.
In net for the Purple Eagles was Whitney Gill (Canadaigua, N.Y.) who made nine saves on the game.
Niagara hits the field again on Friday when it travels to Riverdale, N.Y to take on MAAC opponent Manhattan.
