BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — The second-seeded Niagara University men’s basketball team (21-11) will try to make history tonight when it faces fourth-seeded Siena College (20-11) at 9 p.m. for the 2007 Bank of America Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference title in the Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, Conn.

Niagara, which won the 2005 title, advanced to the championship game for the fourth time in six years with an 89-79 victory over No. 3 seed Loyola College Sunday evening.

Siena, playing in its fifth MAAC title game, reached the finals with a 86-78 win over No. 1 seed Marist College on Sunday.

The Purple Eagles enter the game having won 10-straight games and 12 of their last 13 games. They own the country’s seventh-longest winning streak.

Tonight’s game will be televised live on ESPN2, and can also be heard live on WJJL (1440 AM) and on Niagara University’s official athletic website at www.PurpleEagles.com.

Tonight’s game is the 81st meeting between the two teams, and Siena leads the all-time series, 41-39.
