NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – The Niagara University lacrosse team (1-3) opens its 11th season of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play Friday when its travels to Loudonville, N.Y., to take on Siena College at 4 p.m. at Siena Field.
The Purple Eagles are coming off a disappointing 19-1 loss to Albany on March 25. Junior Emma-Lee Harrison (Lakefield, N.Y.) had the lone goal for Niagara and she leads the team with seven.
Freshman Alison Valerio (Geneva, N.Y.) is tied with Harrison for the team lead in points (7) and tops the squad with seven assists.
Senior Kristen Engel (Plainview, N.Y.) has played all 240 minutes in net and has a 13.25 goals-against average, .448 save percentage and 1-3 record.
Siena is 1-5 on the season after losing its last two games. The Saints lost 19-13 in their last outing vs. Holy Cross on March 22.
Lindsey Rosecrans tops the team with 21 goals, six assists and 27 points. Christina Pampalone is second in scoring with 14 points on 11 goals and three assists.
In net, Heather Ely has started all six games and has a 13.29 goals-against average and .327 save percentage.
Last year, Niagara won 12-11 in double overtime at Niagara Field. Purple Eagle senior Lindsay Hamann (Camillus, N.Y.) had the game-winning goal off a free position. Niagara leads the all-time series, 8-2.
