Men's Basketball Loses in Overtime, 96-95

BALTIMORE, Md. – Loyola College’s Gerald Brown sank a three-point field goal with 20 seconds remaining to lift the Greyhounds (9-6, 5-1) to a 96-95 overtime win over Niagara University (8-9, 3-3) Friday night in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action at Reitz Arena.

The Purple Eagles had a chance to win the game with one second left but senior Clif Brown’s shot fell short as time expired.

An offensive rebound basket by Niagara freshman guard Tyrone Lewis (Levittown, Pa.) forced overtime as his shot tied the score, 85-85. Lewis’ rebound and basket came after Lorenzo Miles (Washington, D.C.) missed two free throws with six seconds left.

In overtime, Lewis scored eight points, including a pair of three-pointers. His second three-pointer gave Niagara a 95-93 lead with 47 seconds remaining.

Junior forward Charron Fisher (Pennesauken, N.J.) had a career-high tying 28 points while senior J.R. Duffey (Fort Worth, Texas) added a season-high 20 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Brown had 15 points while Miles recorded 14 points and four assists. Lewis finished with 10 points.

Brown led Loyola with 28 points while Marquis Sullivan added 18 points.

Niagara returns to action Sunday when it meet Rider at 2 p.m. in Alumni Gym.
