After finishing with a 7-11 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference record, Niagara University (10-17 overall) is the No. 7 seed in the 2006 Citizens Bank MAAC Championship to be played at Pepsi Arena in Albany, N.Y. Manhattan College, Iona College, Marist College and Siena College are the top four seeds, respectively, and will not play Friday. Niagara begins its quest for a second consecutive MAAC Championship title Friday at 7 p.m. EST against No. 8 seed Fairfield University. If the Purple Eagles win, they will play a quarterfinal contest Saturday at 7:30 p.m. vs. No. 2 seed Iona College. Sunday’s semifinals is at 6 p.m., and Monday’s championship game will start at 9 p.m.
All of Niagara’s MAAC Championship games will air live on WJJL 1440 AM and on Niagara’s official web site, PurpleEagles.com, with Steve Vonsik and Todd Callen calling the action. Should it reach the semifinals, the game will air live on MSGNetwork.com. Monday’s championship game will be shown nationally on ESPN2.
