Men's Basketball Meets Iona Sunday

Senior James Mathis

NIAGARA UN., N.Y. -- The Niagara University men’s basketball team (3-8, 0-3) has some work to do today when it meets Iona College (8-3, 2-1) at 2 p.m. in Hynes Athletic Center in New Rochelle, N.Y.

The Purple Eagles, who conclude a five-game road swing, are looking to split this week’s Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference games and end a few streaks. They lost their third consecutive league game Friday night, falling to up-start Loyola, 80-72. The loss extended Niagara losing streak to two games and its road losing streak to three.

Iona, who was sitting atop the conference standings at the beginning of the week, was knocked off by Manhattan College Friday evening, 87-68. The loss is the Gaels’ third in the last four games.

The Sunday’s game can be heard live on WJJL (1440 AM) and on Niagara University’s official sports website, www.PurpleEagles.com.
