Men's Basketball Travels to Saint Peter's

Junior James Mathis

NIAGARA UN., N.Y. -- With playoff implications on the line, the Niagara University men’s basketball team (17-8, 12-4) play its second-to-last regular-season road game of the year when it meets Saint Peter’s College (14-11, 9-7) Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Yanitelli Center.

The Purple Eagles sit atop the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference standings with a game in hand over second place Rider University (11-5). A win over Saint Peter’s would secure Niagara at least a share of the conference regular-season title.

The Purple Eagles have won eight of their last 10 games, including eight of the last nine MAAC contests. In a non-conference game on Feb. 19, Niagara lost at Akron, 74-68.

Saint Peter’s comes into the game with a five-game winning streak. The Peacocks beat Fairfield, 84-78, in Bridgeport on Monday.

The game can also be heard live on WJJL (1440 AM) or on Niagara University’s official athletic website at www.PurpleEagles.com.
