Men's Basketball Meets Notre Dame Wednesday

Sophomore Charron Fisher leads Niagara in scoring and rebounding.

NIAGARA UN., N.Y. -- A break for finals hopefully will be the right medicine for the Niagara University men’s basketball team (2-5). After starting the season in unfamiliar waters, Niagara returns to non-conference play Wednesday when it travels to South Bend, Ind., to take on the University of Notre Dame (5-2) at 7 p.m. in the Joyce Center.

The game can be heard live on WJJL (1440 AM) and on Niagara University’s official sports website, www.PurpleEagles.com.

The waters are unfamiliar to the Purple Eagles because after beginning the season with two wins, they find themselves in the midst of a mind-boggling five-game losing streak and with a 0-2 start in the MAAC.

Notre Dame, on the other hand, has won five of its first seven games, including an upset victory over then-No. 22 Alabama on Dec. 7. The Fighting Irish enter the game on a three-game winning streak.

Notre Dame leads the all-time series, 1-0.
