NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – The Niagara University women’s lacrosse team faced the Fairfield Stags Saturday afternoon, dropping the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game, 17-5. 
Fairfield began strong, scoring the game’s first three goals before Niagara freshman Lindsay Hamann tallied her seventh goal of the season at 24:57.  
The Stags rallied to score eight of the next nine goals to take the 11-2 lead at 5:32. The teams traded goals before halftime, including Niagara junior Ashley Baker’s goal at 1:54, the first of her three goals in the game. 
After a Fairfield goal less than a minute into the second half, and back-to-back goals by Baker assisted by freshman Kathryn Kennealy at 26:42 and 21:34, both clubs remained scoreless for more than 10 minutes.  
The Stags reopened the scoring at 10:28 and registered another three before the end of regulation, including the game’s last goal with just four seconds remaining. 
Fairfield remains undefeated against Niagara, defeating the Purple Eagles eight times in the clubs’ all-time history. The win improves Fairfield’s 2004 record to 2-6, while Niagara falls to 4-2. 
The Purple Eagles return to action tomorrow in a game with a recent change of venue. Originally scheduled for 10 a.m. at Manhattan, the game will now be played at 4 p.m. on the grounds of West Haven High School in West Haven, Conn.
