NIAGARA UN., N.Y. -- The Niagara University men’s basketball team continues its quest for a postseason bid tonight when it plays hometown favorite Siena in the semifinals of the 2004 HSBC Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament in Pepsi Arena in Albany, N.Y.
Niagara advanced to the semifinals for the second-straight year with a 106-92 overtime win over seventh-seeded Iona Saturday night. The win gave the Purple Eagles their first 20-win season in 10 years.
Siena returns for another day after upsetting No. 3 Fairfield, 66-63. The win keeps the Saints five-game winning streak alive.
Niagara leads the series, 36-32, and won both regular-season meetings in 2003-04.
