Men's Basketball Team Looks to Avenge an Earlier Loss to Fairfield on Monday

Junior Juan Mendez led Niagara with 17 points in the team's first meeting.

NIAGARA UN., N.Y. – The Niagara University men’s basketball team (15-7, 9-4) will have an opportunity to avenge one of its seven losses this season when it travels to Bridgeport, Conn., to play Fairfield (15-9, 8-5) at 4 p.m. Monday in the Arena at Harbor Yard.

The Purple Eagles enter the contest on a modest two-game road-winning streak. They won their eighth road contest of the season Feb. 10 when they knocked off second place Saint Peter’s, 87-73, in Jersey City.

Fairfield lost its fourth overtime game of the season Feb. 10 when it fell to Canisius, 65-61. The loss snapped the Stags’ six-game winning streak.

Niagara leads the all-time series with Fairfield, 26-16.

The game will be televised live on the Madison Square Garden and Empire Sports Networks. Rob Kennedy and Doug Sherman have the call. The game can also be heard live on WJJL (1440 AM) or on Niagara University’s official website at www.PurpleEagles.com.
