Men's Basketball Hosts St. John's Saturday

NIAGARA UN., N.Y. -- The Niagara University basketball team (2-1) will put its five-game home winning streak on the line when it hosts St. John’s University (1-1) Saturday at 7 p.m. in the legendary Taps Gallagher Center.

The Purple Eagles are coming off a 74-53 victory over Central Connecticut State on Monday. Senior Juan Mendez had a game-high 20 points and junior James Mathis and sophomore J.R. Duffey each posted double-doubles in the win.

St. John’s enters the game on a losing note after dropping a 53-52 home game to St. Francis (N.Y.) Tuesday.

The game will be televised tape delay by Adelphia Cable and be rebroadcast Sunday at 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on cable Channel 13. The game can also be heard live on WJJL (1440 AM) or on the Niagara athletics website at www.PurpleEagles.com.
