Purple Eagles Look to Avenge a Loss to Rider Sunday

NIAGARA UN., N.Y. -- The Niagara University men’s basketball team (11-5, 5-2) has an opportunity to avenge one of its five losses this season when it hosts Rider (10-6, 4-2) today at 1 p.m. in the Gallagher Center.

Niagara enters the Rider contest three games back from first place Manhattan and two contests back of second place Saint Peter’s in the MAAC race.

The Purple Eagles swept their first series of the season when they beat Siena, 62-58, Friday night in the Gallagher Center.

Rider looks to take Niagara out for a second time in as many games and extend its winning streak to three games. The Broncs beat Canisius, 77-65, Thursday to win their 10 game of the season.

Niagara leads the series, 9-6, but lost the first meeting with Rider, 93-90, in overtime Jan. 18.

The game will not be televised but can be heard live on WJJL (1440 AM) or on the Niagara website at www.PurpleEagles.com.
