Niagara Lacrosse Slips by Manhattan

Erie, PA (April 6, 2003) - Junior Kelly Barber scored on a free position with just 21-seconds left to lift Niagara over Manhattan 13-12 at Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA. Niagara improves to 6-3 (2-1 MAAC) while Manhattan falls to 3-6 (1-1 MAAC).

Niagara had a wild weekend as bad weather in Western New York forced the Purple Eagles to play the Saturday's game against Fairfield and the Manhattan game at Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA.

Megan McNerney (Little York, NY/Homer) led all scorers with three goals and three assists. Ashley Baker (W.Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta), Ashley Grosso (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) and Rachel Jones (Tonawanda, NY/Sweet Home) all netted three goals.

Barber (Homer, NY/Homer) finished the day with her game winning goal and one assist.

Sophomore goalkeeper Michelle Nucci (Plainview, NY/Bethpage) played all 60 minutes between the pipes for the Purple Eagles. She made 10 saves en route to picking up her sixth win of the season.

Freshman Micole Daluisio (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) recovered five loose balls for Niagara.

Manhattan was led in scoring by Mary Dudek who scored four goals on four shots. Victoria Carmen and Nora Jacquette each scored three goals.

Niagara will travel to Marist next on Saturday April 12. Game time is set for 12:00 p.m.
