NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. — The Niagara University men's hockey team (1-2-0, 0-0-0) takes to the road for the first time this season when it travels to the Great Lake State. The Purple Eagles open their College Hockey America schedule at Wayne State (1-1-2, 0-0-0) Friday at 7:05 p.m. in Compuware Sports Arena and then faces its second ranked opponent of the season in No. 3/4 Michigan (4-1-0) Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in Yost Arena.

"This is a huge weekend as we begin a new CHA season," Niagara head coach Dave Burkholder said. "The games against Wayne State are always very emotional and I see that tradition continuing. We have never beaten them on the road. Should be a great game leading us into Yost Arena to play against ranked Michigan on Saturday."

The Purple Eagles won their first game of the season with a 5-2 upset of then-No. 1 New Hampshire in the 2003 Punch Imlach College Hockey Showcase at HSBC Arena in Buffalo, Oct. 25. The victory came after Niagara dropped a 6-1 contest to UMass Lowell the previous evening.

Wayne State enters Friday's game having split a pair of games against Findlay. The Warriors won 3-2 Oct. 16, but then dropped 6-3 game at Findlay Oct. 24.

Michigan is on a five-game winning streak and has won seven of its last eight games. The Wolverines' lone loss was an 8-3 loss at Miami (OH) Oct. 10. This past weekend, Michigan beat Northern Michigan, 2-0 and 5-2.

Both games can be heard live on WJJL radio (1440 AM, Niagara Falls) with Paul Hamilton calling the action. Pre-game starts at 6:55 p.m. for Wayne State and 7:20 p.m. for Michigan.
