Niagara University, N.Y. - Two second-half goals in the opening three minutes of the second half helped Niagara women's soccer beat Iona 3-1 at Niagara Field in Niagara University, N.Y.
Niagara improves to 5-1-0, 2-0-0 in Metro play, while Iona falls to 3-2-2, 0-1-1 in conference.
Iona kicked off on the board first as Dolene Smith netted the Gaels' first goal from a Sofia Bigeni dish in the tenth minute of action.
Niagara answered back in the 32nd minute as Caitlyn Grady found Naiya Johnston to knot the game at one apiece as both teams headed into halftime.
Caitlyn Gratton gave the Purple Eagles their first lead of the match in the 47th minute as Johnston recorded the assist on Gratton's game-winner to make the match a 2-1 advantage over the Gaels.
In the very next minute, the Purple and White added to their lead courtesy of Mahelie Barbeau where
Angelina Kristic recorded the assist on Barbeau's tally to give Niagara a 3-1.
