Niagara University, N.Y. - Niagara women's soccer defeated Siena 1-0, with
Caitlyn Gratton's lone goal and
Julia Poissant's eight saves at Niagara Field in Niagara University, N.Y.
Niagara improves to 6-2-0, 3-1-0 in Metro play, while Siena falls to 6-3-1, 2-2-0 in conference.
Julia Poissant was tested early into the game in the third minute of play as Grace Crowley's shot was turned away. Catherine Rogers also tested Poissant in the 20th minute of action as Poissant fought off another Siena attack.
The Purple Eagles struck first in the 37th minute of action as junior Caitlyn Gratton was awarded a penalty kick courtesy of a Saints foul inside the box to give the Purple and White a 1-0 lead over Siena as both teams went into the half.
The Saints did go away in the second half as they tested Poissant six times with all getting turned away. Poissant ended with eight saves in the win for Niagara.
