Syracuse, NY - Niagara women's lacrosse earned their first victory of the season with a 8-7 win over Le Moyne Saturday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.
The Purple Eagles improved to 1-2, while the Dolphins fell to 2-1 on the young season.
Niagara struck first just 1:02 into the game with Michaela Delles finding the back of the net. Le Moyne answered back with four straight goals.
Maive Partlow beat Dolphins netminder Amanda Manfredi with 17 seconds left in the first quarter to make it a 4-2 game at the first break.
To start the second quarter Maddy Gill opened the scoring with a player-up goal to cut the deficit to one.
Le Moyne scored the only other goal of the quarter on a free position attempt with 41 seconds left in the quarter to send it to halftime 5-3 in favor of the Dolphins.
Niagara broke out in the third quarter scoring three goals, starting with Delles potting her second of the game, followed by Kensington Keane finding the back of the net to knot the game up at five. Le Moyne was able to beat Purple Eagles goaltender Haley Terry to regain the lead.Â
Olivia Ng knotted up the game once again with a player-up goal assisted by Keane with 1:26 remaining in the third quarter and that tie stood into the fourth.
Delles completed her hat trick to start the fourth to give Niagara their second lead of the contest with Keane tallying her second assist of the game.Â
The Dolphins tied things up with 7:42 left, but Keane beat Manfredi for the second time on a player-up free-position goal with 6:02 remaining to give the Purple Eagles a 8-7 victory.
Terry made 10 saves for Niagara, while Manfredi stopped nine chances for Le Moyne
