Men's Basketball Defeated by Manhattan

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Men's Basketball dropped a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference matchup against Manhattan 79-70 Sunday afternoon at Draddy Gymnasium.

The Purple Eagles fell to 4-12, 1-5 MAAC, while the Jaspers improved to 8-10, 4-3 MAAC.

Niagara started out scoring the first six points of the game with three pointers from Reggie Prudhomme and Landon Williams.

The Purple Eagles grew their lead to 19-10 with Will Shortt, Josiah Sabino, Justin Hawkins and Trenton Walters all finding the basket.

The Jaspers went on a 15-8 run with 6:31 left in the first half to cut it to a two point contest. Walters responded with a three, before Zanki scored his first points of the afternoon to extend the lead back to seven.

Manhattan ended the half on a 11-6 run to make it a 38-36 game heading into halftime.

Out of the half Manhattan took their first lead of the game at 41-40. Walters back-to-back threes gave the Purple Eagles back the lead at the 15:31 mark.

The Jaspers once again went on a run, this time being 14-5, over a five minute span. Sabino ended the run with a pair of free throws, while Walters found the basket again to cut it to a three point Jaspers lead.

The Purple Eagles tried to mount a comeback late, but Manhattan was able to hold on to a 79-70 victory.

Game Notes

Niagara is now 37-63 all-time against Manhattan

Walters led the Purple and White for the first time since 11/21/25 against Duke with his 16 points

Walters also set a season-high with six assists

Page extended his streak of 10+ point performances to seven

Zanki and Sabino both tied career-highs with two blocks a piece.
