Niagara University NY - Niagara women's volleyball fell in four sets to Cornell on the first day of the Buffalo Classic at Alumni Arena in Buffalo, N.Y.
Set One
Cornell started the first set on a 4-0 run that ended with a service error followed by an attack error from the Big Red.
The Big Red never gave up the lead as the Purple Eagles were only able to make it a two point game at one point. Cornell took the first set 25-10.
Payton Lee recorded two kills, while Kinga Wronska and Janiah Robinson both tallied one.
Set Two
Once again the Big Red got out to an early lead scoring the first three points of the set. Robinson was able to stop the run with a kill to make it 3-1.
Cornell followed that up with a five point run that caused Niagara to call a timeout.
Sydney Wilkes led the Purple Eagles on a three point run out of the break with two kills and a block assist.
Wronska led the Purple and White with four kills in the second set, while Kylie Blessing recorded five assists.
Set Three
Both teams traded the first nine points of the third set, until Niagara went on a four point run with kills from Wronska and Katie Jacobs, taking the lead from Cornell 8-5 at the end of their run to give the Purple Eagles their first lead of the game.
The Big Red put up their own four point run as they brought the score 15-14 in favor of the Purple Eagles.
The teams traded points back and forth for the rest of the set, but the final point went to the Purple Eagles which saw Blessing keep the rally alive multiple times and eventually set up Wronska for the kill.
Wronska once again led Niagara with five kills during the set and Blessing added six assists.
Set Four
Niagara got out to a 3-2 lead to begin set four, but the Big Red went on a four point run to gain a 6-3 lead.
The Purple Eagles battled back and forth until the game was knotted up at 12, then Cornell went on a five point run and didn't look back, ending the game scoring eight of the last nine points.

Niagara is now 2-15 all-time against Cornell
Wronska led the Purple and White with a season-high 12 kills
Blessing eclipsed the 20 assists mark for the third time this season with 21.
Taylor Jenkins got her first start of the season, recording three blocks.
