Fairfield, Conn. — Niagara (16-27, 11-16 MAAC) dropped the final game of a three game MAAC series against Fairfield 11-1 on Sunday at Don and Chris Cook Field.
How It Happened
Fairfield got on the board first in the bottom of the second inning with a solo homer to left field. The Stags moved their lead to three, plating two runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Fairfield took control of the game in the fifth scoring three runs off a homer from Bucciero. The Stags grew their lead to 11 in the sixth with a five run inning, highlighted by two two-RBI singles.
Niagara got their lone run of the contest in the seventh when Jason Green hit a solar shot over the right field wall.
Nate Bennett got the start on the mound for the Purple and White, allowing three runs on four hits and recording five strikeouts in 3.2 innings of work. Gage Wheaton relieved Bennett, tossing 1.1 innings while allowing three runs on one hit. Andrew Damiani came on for Wheaton and Carter Fink threw the final inning of the game.
