NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. — Maddy Gill scored five goals, including the game-winner in overtime, to lead Niagara to a 9-8 victory over Rider in women's lacrosse action Saturday at Niagara Field.
How it Happened
Gill netted the decisive goal with 3:54 remaining in the extra period, capping a back-and-forth contest that saw the Purple Eagles improve to 5-8 on the season.
Niagara stormed out to a 5-1 lead after the first quarter behind Gill's early scoring outburst and a balanced offensive attack. The Purple Eagles got additional goals from

Giordan Peck and
Abberly Dela Rosa.
Rider battled back to tie the game 8-8 on Elizabeth Shean's goal with 2:19 left in regulation, forcing overtime.
Goalkeeper
Haley Terry was instrumental in the win, recording 16 saves against Rider's 24 shots on goal. The Purple Eagles' defense forced 17 Rider turnovers, with
Sydney Huhtala leading the defensive effort with four caused turnovers.
Despite being outshot 32-21, Niagara capitalized on its opportunities and was perfect on clearing attempts, going 18-for-18.
