Niagara's Power Leads to Victory Over Siena

Loundonville, N.Y. - Niagara (9-20, 5-10 MAAC) came out victorious in the final game of a three game MAAC series against Siena 14-4 (8) at Connors Park.

How it Happened

Both teams traded runs in the first inning with Niagara striking in the top of the frame with an RBI double off the bat of Vincent Mauro. The Saints responded with a home run.

The Purple Eagles put up a four spot in the top of the third inning with two two-RBI home runs from Elijha Hammill and Jason Green. Kozar added to Niagara's lead in the fourth with a two-RBI homer of his own.

Green tacked on another run for the Purple and White in the seventh inning with his second home run of the day, this one being a solo shot to left center. Evan Wilde added to the surging offense with a two-RBI homer in the seventh as well.

Siena cut the Niagara lead to six in the bottom of the seventh plating three runs highlighted by a home run from Jake Sparks. In the eighth Hammill recorded his second home run of the game followed by a sacrifice fly from Green and an RBI single off the bat of Nate Milk.

Jack Dickinson got the start on the mound for the Purple and White, throwing 0.2 innings, allowing one run on three hits. Nate Bennett took over for Dickinson, pitching the majority of the game allowing two runs on two hits in 5.1 innings of work. Andrew Baumgart came in for 0.2 innings while Luke Glenn for the final 1.1 innings.

• Niagara is now 25-35 all-time against Siena.

• Six Purple Eagles recorded multi-hit days.

• Hammill and Green became the first Purple Eagles to hit two home runs each in the same game since before 2013.

• Hammill set a career-high with four RBIs.

• Brooks extended his hitting streak to 19 straight games.

• McKay improved his on base streak to 15 straight contests with two base knocks and a walk.

• Carmen Panaro recorded his first collegiate hit.
