Syracuse, NY - Niagara (10-20, 5-10) defeated Le Moyne, 16-13 in a back and forth non-conference midweek contest at Dick Rockwell Field.
How it Happened
Niagara struck first in the top half of the first with Rees Kozar scoring on an error by the Dolphins catcher, followed up by a solo homer off the bat of Tyler Vivacqua. Le Moyne took the lead in the bottom of the frame, plating three runs.
The Purple Eagles tied up the game in the second when Jacob Brooks scored on a wild pitch. In the bottom of the inning Le Moyne took the lead once again with a three run homer from J. Cannon.
Niagara's offense really kicked into gear in the third, scoring six runs starting with Nate Milk singling to bring home Curtis McKay. The Dolphins then walked home a run and allowed a run on an error, before Vincent Mauro scored on a Carmen Panaro groundout. Kozar capped off the inning with a two-RBI double.Â
Panaro tacked on his second RBI of the day in the fourth scoring Milk to make it a four run game. Le Moyne put up five runs in the bottom of the frame to take the lead, highlighted by two singles.
Vivacqua gave Niagara the lead back in the top of the sixth with a two-RBI single. McKay added to the lead with a sacrifice fly later in the inning. The lead did not last long as the Dolphins knotted the game back up in the seventh.
The Purple Eagles took the lead for the final time of the day in the eighth inning, plating three runs as Camden Sanders scored on a wild pitch before McKay tripled to right to score two more runs and make it a three run game.
The Purple and White went through seven pitchers in the contest, with Ethan McNish-Heider getting the start allowing three runs. CJ Hurley came in for 2.0 innings, Johnny Montgomery threw 1.0 innings and Jack Dickinson tossed 0.2 innings. Eddie Dolansky got the most work with 3.0 innings, before Gage Wheaton relieved him for 1.1 innings. Andrew Damiani came on to close out the game in the ninth.
