Niagara University, NY. — Niagara women's lacrosse fell to 6-9 overall and 4-2 in conference play, dropping their Senior Day contest to Quinnipiac 13-12, Saturday at Niagara Field.
How it Happened
Niagara got off to a quick start, scoring the first three goals of the contest with Michaela Delles, Maddy Gill and Olivia Ng all finding the back of the net. Delles tallied her second goal of the contest in the first quarter as well. The Bobcats scored twice in the first frame.
Giordan Peck and Avery Olschefskie scored the first two goals of the second quarter for the Purple Eagles. Quinnipiac responded with three goals of their own before Gill beat the Bobcats goaltender to wrap up the first half.
Quinnipiac dominated the third quarter outscoring the Purple Eagles 5-1 as Ng scored the lone goal of the quarter for the Purple and White.
Gill completed her hat-trick to start off the fourth quarter, but Quinnipiac would find the back of the net twice to grow their lead to three. Delles also completed her hat-trick and Gill buried two more goals to tie up the game with 4:57 remaining. Quinnipiac scored in 3:20 left in the contest to come out victorious.
Haley Terry got the start in net for Niagara, finishing with eight saves.
Niagara Notes
• This was the 14th meeting in program history between the two schools. Niagara now leads 11-3.
• Gill extended her team lead in goals to 45 with her sixth hat-trick of the season.
• Delles has recorded a hat-trick in five of the last six games putting her at 29 on the season.
• Ng tallied her third multi-goal game of the season, finding the back of the net twice.
