EMMITSBURG, Md. —
Curtis McKay drove in six runs and
Jason Green homered twice as Niagara defeated Mount St. Mary's 14-11 in a back-and-forth baseball game Friday at E.T. Straw Stadium.
How it Happened
Mount St. Mary's jumped to an early 4-1 lead after the first inning, taking advantage of three Niagara errors. However, the Purple Eagles' offense proved too much as they scored in seven of nine innings, including multiple runs in four frames.
Niagara (4-11) trailed 9-4 after four innings but rallied with three runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth to take the lead for good. McKay's two-run homer in the fifth sparked the comeback, while Green added his second home run of the day in the ninth for insurance.
Elijha Hammill had a productive day for Niagara, going 2-for-3 with a double and triple while scoring four runs.
Evan Wilde also homered as part of Niagara's 12-hit attack.
Andrew Damiani (2-1) earned the win with one inning of relief, and
Carter Fink recorded the final two outs for his first save of the season. Mount St. Mary's Max McCrary (1-2) took the loss.
Ty Fredo led the Mount (8-12) with four hits and four runs scored, while Mateo Zeppieri drove in four runs in the losing effort.
