CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Queens used a dominant 7-2 third quarter to pull away from Niagara for an 18-12 victory in women's lacrosse action Wednesday at Dickson Field.
How it Happened
Kayleen Favreau led the Royals (3-5) with five goals, while Elise Grissett added four goals and two assists. Lily Greenwell contributed four assists for Queens, which outshot the Purple Eagles 32-28.
Michaela Delles paced Niagara (2-6) with three goals, while
Hannah Kent and
Maddy Gill each recorded two goals and an assist.
The teams traded goals throughout a competitive first half that saw Queens holding a slim 8-7 lead at intermission. The Royals then seized control in the third quarter, outscoring Niagara 7-2 to build a 15-9 advantage heading into the final period.
Despite the loss, Niagara controlled the draw circle 21-12, with
Giordan Peck collecting a game-high six draw controls.
Queens held commanding advantages in ground balls (22-11) and free-position efficiency, converting 4-of-7 opportunities compared to Niagara's 1-of-7.
Devan Maready earned the win for Queens with nine saves, while
Haley Terry made eight stops for Niagara.

• Wednesday's contest was the first between Niagara and Queens.
• The Purple Eagles matched their season-highs in points (18), goals (12) and assists (6).
• Delles recorded her second game in as many tries with at least three goals. The freshman has tallied seven of her 11 goals on the season in the last two games.
