STONY BROOK, N.Y. - Stony Brook erupted for 16 runs on 12 hits, powering past Niagara 16-6 in college baseball action Sunday at Joe Nathan Field.

How it Happened
The Purple Eagles (2-10) jumped to an early lead with a four-run first inning and added two more in the second, but their offense went silent for the remainder of the contest as Stony Brook reliever Rizzo shut them down with 5.1 scoreless innings.

Milk led Niagara's offense, going 3-for-4 with a double, triple and two runs scored. Kozar contributed a two-run double, while Cameron added a run-scoring double of his own. Brooks and Sanders also drove in runs for the Purple Eagles.

Despite the offensive outburst, Niagara's pitching struggled throughout. Bennett was tagged with the loss, allowing eight runs (seven earned) over 2.2 innings. The Niagara staff combined to surrender 14 earned runs while issuing five walks and hitting four batters.

Stony Brook (6-7) took control with a five-run third inning, highlighted by Doughty's two-run homer. The Seawolves continued to add on, scoring at least one run in five of their six innings at bat, including another five-run explosion in the sixth.

Paulsen led the Seawolves' attack with three hits, including two home runs, while Doughty added a homer and four RBIs. Miceli contributed three hits and three RBIs for Stony Brook.

Niagara committed three errors in the loss and managed just two hits after the second inning.
