CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Niagara baseball dropped its third straight game to open the 2025 season, falling 11-1 to No. 21 Miami on Sunday afternoon at Alex Rodriguez Park.
 
How it Happened
The Purple Eagles (0-3) struck first in the opening inning but couldn't maintain the momentum, managing just four hits against Miami's pitching staff. Shawn Cameron delivered Niagara's lone RBI, while Jason Green added a double for one of the team's few offensive highlights.
 
Starting pitcher Nate Bennett (0-1) worked three innings for Niagara, allowing four runs on four hits while walking four. The Purple Eagles used five relievers to finish the game, but Miami's offense proved too potent, collecting 11 hits including a home run from Brandon DeGoti.
 
Miami starter Brian Walters (1-0) was dominant, striking out 10 Niagara batters over five innings while surrendering just three hits and one run.
 
Niagara's defense struggled, committing three errors that led to several unearned runs. Camden Sanders and Connor Schramm each struck out three times as Miami's pitching staff recorded 15 strikeouts total.
