NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. —
Olumide Adelodun's season-high 26 points weren't enough as Niagara fell to Mount St. Mary's 84-83 on Friday night when Carmelo Pacheco hit a game-winning 3-pointer with under two-seconds to play.
How it Happened
The Purple Eagles (10-15, 5-9 MAAC) led by three with nine seconds remaining after
Zion Russell hit two free throws, but Mount St. Mary's (14-10, 7-6 MAAC) raced down the court for the dramatic finish. Terrell Ard Jr. grabbed an offensive rebound off a missed free throw and found Pacheco, who drained the decisive shot.
Adelodun shot 8-of-14 from the field, including five 3-pointers, to lead all scorers.
Jhaylon Martinez added 11 points and eight rebounds for Niagara, while
Jaeden Marshall also contributed 11 points.
The Purple Eagles overcame a seven-point halftime deficit and led by as many as five in the second half. They shot 48.0 percent from the field and hit 11 3-pointers but couldn't hold off Mount St. Mary's.
Dallas Hobbs led Mount St. Mary's with 21 points, while three other players scored 13 points each.
