Men's Basketball Falls to Le Moyne

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Niagara fell 74-68 to Le Moyne at Ted Grant Court on Monday night. The Purple Eagles dropped to 2-2 while the Dolphins improved to 2-3.

The opening 20 minutes featured eight lead changes and two ties, with neither team able to establish control. Le Moyne struck first, but Reggie Prudhomme immediately answered with a three-pointer to give Niagara its first lead at 3-2.

The Dolphins surged ahead, draining back-to-back threes that pushed Le Moyne's lead to 14-7.

Prudhomme knocked down his fourth three of the half with 9:08 remaining, to pull the Purple Eagles within one at 21-20.

The Purple Eagles briefly regained the lead at 25-24 on a Zanki three-pointer with 5:02 left Drew Larson scored five quick points off the bench, including a three-pointer that gave Niagara a 30-29 advantage.

Le Moyne closed the half on a 3-2 run, to take a 32-32 tie into the locker room. 

The Purple Eagles came out to start the second half, with Justin Page hitting a jumper and Justin Hawkins converting a fast-break layup to give Niagara its largest lead at 36-32 just 1:47 into the period.

Le Moyne responded with an 11-3 run, scoring on consecutive possessions to push the lead to 40-36, then 43-39.

Niagara refused to go away. Zanki continued his impressive performance, knocking down three more second-half three-pointers as part of a 16-point night. He drained a three with 2:57 remaining to cut the deficit to 63-56.

Le Moyne iced the game with a three-point play with 22 seconds remaining, finishing an and-one opportunity that made it 68-62.

Niagara made one final push as Prudhomme hit a three-pointer with five seconds left to cut it to 72-68, but it was not enough.
