Hockey Blanks Bowling Green

Niagara University N.Y. – Two goals from Maxim Muranov and a shutout by Deivs Rolovs helps prevail Niagara past Bowling Green 2-0 at Dwyer Arena in Niagara University, N.Y.

The Purple Eagles improved to 2-0-0 on the young season, while the Falcons start the season 0-1-0.
 
After the first 20 minutes of action both teams struggled to find the box score until at the 9:08 mark in the second period where freshman Muranov broke the stalemate recording his first collegiate goal. Muranov was set up by Declan McDonnell and Ray Murakami to put the Purple Eagles up 1-0.
 
The Moskva, Russia native recorded his Muranov second of the night at the 15:49 mark in the second period for his second of the night. Mitchell Beck and Andy Reist added the helpers on Muranov's second goal.

Both teams had chances in the third but were not able to find the back of the net and the Purple Eagles held on to a 2-0 victory.
 
Deivs Rolovs stopped all 26 of the Falcons shots on goal.

• Niagara is now 3-3-2 all time against Bowling Green
• The last time the Purple Eagles beat the Falcons was back on October 18, 2007
Deivs Rolovs recorded his first career shutout
• This marks the first time Niagara has won the first two games of the season at home since 2017-18 season
• This marks the first time since 2022-23 opened the season with back-to-back wins
• With Muranov's two goals him and Marshall Finnie became the first freshman duo for the Purple Eagles to record multiple goals in the first two games of the season
