PITTSBURGH, PA – Niagara lost their final game of the 2024 Chick-fil-A Robinson Tournament to Coppin State (25-23,25-14,25-19), moving to 2-4 on the season.
How it Happened: Niagara at Coppin State
In set one, Coppin State scored the first six points until Niagara got on the board with a service error. The Purple Eagles chipped away at Coppin State's lead using a 4-0 run to bring the score to 12-8. Despite outscoring the Eagles 15-12 over the next 27 points, the Purple and White comeback fell two points short, as the they dropped the opening set, 25-23.
In the second set, Coppin State came out swinging, going on an 8-0 run that featured seven kills, forcing the Purple Eagles to burn one of their timeouts. The Eagles would keep its foot on the gas taking set two, 25-14.
Niagara took the first point of set three before surrendering the next four to fall into a 4-1 hole. The Purple Eagles pulled within two with a 3-0 run later in the set, forcing Coppin State to call timeout. The match would remain close until Coppin State broke off a 4-0 spurt to take a six-point lead and eventually took the set by six, 25-19.
