NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – The Niagara volleyball program was defeated by the visiting Youngstown State Penguins in straight-sets, 25-23, 25-15, 25-18. The Purple Eagles move to 2-5 overall on the season, while YSU improves to 4-4 overall.
 
How it Happened
Niagara and Youngstown State battled in the first set, with the edge going to the Penguins, despite Niagara recording 15 kills, led by 
Liana Tolliver and 
Victoria Latino with 14 apiece. The Penguins were led by Abbie Householder, who recorded a set-high 5 kills, helping YSU take the opening frame 25-23. 
Noel Perkins led Niagara with seven assists, she would go on to finish the match with a team-high 16 assists.
 
The Penguins would take set two, 25-15, as Householder and Teagan Ng paced the attack with three kills. Niagara's Peyton Lee had a set-high four kills, but the Penguins recorded a match-high four blocks en route to taking a two-set lead.
 
Householder would once again lead the way for the Penguins in set three as she recorded a match-high eight kills as, despite an early Niagara lead, YSU earned the straight-set win over NU. The Purple Eagles were paced by lee who once again with four kills. 
Paisley Ka'ahanui had six of her nine assists in the set.
 
Niagara Notes
• Niagara falls to 1-3 all-time against Youngstown State.
• The Purple Eagles recorded 36 total kills, their third-highest total for a three-set match, while its 121 total attempts was a season-high for a three-set match.
• 
Laryssa Imbuzeiro had a team-high four blocks, moving her season total to 26.
