NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. - Niagara volleyball swept Siena in straight sets (25-23, 26-24, 25-18) Sunday in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference matchup at the Gallagher Center. The Purple Eagles improve to 2-0 in league play and 6-7 overall, while Siena falls to 0-2 in conference action and 1-12 overall.
How it Happened
Set one started with both teams exchanging 3-0 runs, with Niagara going on two separate 3-0 streaks with the latter of the two giving the Purple and White a 6-3 lead as
Kylie Blessing notched back-to-back aces. Niagara had a 15-13 edge at the media timeout, but the visiting Siena Saints surged with a 5-0 run to pull within one, 24-23, however, Tolliver ended the Saints run and secured the 25-23 set win for Niagara with a decisive kill.
Both sides battled in the first 26 points of the second set where the largest lead would be by three, 14-12, in favor of the Purple Eagles. From there Niagara would go on a 4-0 spurt, highlighted by a
Kinga Wronska kill to open its lead to seven, 18-12, however, the Saints would not go away quietly, tying the set at 22-22 and 24-24 before a pair of attack errors gave Niagara the 26-24 set win and a two-set advantage.
The third and final set saw Niagara take the first four points thanks to
Laryssa Imbuzeiro recording two kills. With the game tied at 11-11, Niagara would go on a 10-4 run to take a 21-15 lead, its largest of the set, before taking four of the final seven points to secure the sweep.

• Sunday marked the 56th meeting all-time between Niagara and Siena, with the Purple Eagles improving to 27-29 against the Saints with wins in each of the last four matches.
• The Purple Eagles demonstrated superior offensive efficiency, posting a .261 attack percentage compared to Siena's .162.
• Wronska led Niagara's attack with 13 kills and a .303 hitting percentage.
• Tolliver also contributed significantly for Niagara with 10 kills and a .318 hitting percentage.
• Niagara's blocking was a key factor, with the team recording 11 total blocks compared to Siena's two.
Janiah Robinson led Niagara with eight total blocks, followed by
Sydney Wilkes with five.
• The serving game favored Niagara, who had seven aces, three of which came from Blessing, to Siena's four.
